GCS Ballpark to Host Illinois-Mizzou Baseball Showdown Tomorrow Night

SAUGET, Ill. - GCS Ballpark will host the annual "Braggin' Rights" game between the University of Illinois and University of Missouri on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. The two baseball programs will play at the Gateway Grizzlies' home ballpark for the second time in the facility's history.
"We're thrilled to host this event at GCS Ballpark and it's especially exciting because of the way these two programs have played throughout the first half of the college baseball season," said Grizzlies' general manager Steve Gomric. "It will be a great atmosphere and experience for both Illini and Mizzou fans," he said.
Mizzou baseball sits at a 20-9 overall record coming into the game with a 6-3 mark in conference play. Head coach Tim Jamieson led the Tigers to a sweep of Georgia on the road to start SEC play. The program followed it up by taking two of three games from South Carolina, while earning a win against No. 2 Texas A&M this past Saturday.
Illinois kicked off the Big Ten season during this past weekend, picking up a win in the conference opener on Saturday. Head coach Dan Hartleb's club holds a 19-6-1 overall mark, while the Illini finish a three-game set on Monday afternoon against Michigan State.
GCS Ballpark last hosted the rivalry game on May 15, 2007. The Tigers beat the Illini, 12-5. Since it was opened in 2002, the Grizzlies' ballpark has hosted thousands of events including more than a decade of Frontier League professional baseball. The ballpark also has strong ties to NCAA baseball in the St. Louis area. It serves as the home field for Webster University and Lindenwood University in Belleville.
