Flint, Mich. - The Rockford IceHogs (AHL) announced today that they have signed forward Gavin Hayes to a professional tryout (PTO)

Hayes finished off a career year this year with the Firebirds scoring 41 G and adding 40 A. He became the third Firebird in history to score 40+ in a season, and his 41 G was tied for 9th in the OHL this season.
Flint selected Hayes with their first-round pick (#16 overall) in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He currently sits in eighth in both career goals (60) and points (130) in franchise history.
The Westland, Mich. native was selected by the Blackhawks in the 3rd round (#66 overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft after he set four franchise records last year in his first season with the Firebirds including single-season rookie assists (30) and points (49). He signed with Chicago last week and his entry-level contract begins with the 2023-24 season.
The IceHogs have three games left in the regular season starting this Friday, April 14 when they visit the Grand Rapids Griffins.
