
Gavin Glinton named USL First Division Player of the Week

Charleston, SC. Charleston Battery forward Gavin Glinton has been named the USL Fist Division Player of the Week following his two-gaol performance in last Saturday's win versus Miami FC. Glinton scored a goal in each half to lead the Battery into a tie for third and also moved into a tie with Miami's Romario for second in the goal scoring table (10); this is Glinton's second Player of the Week honor of the season.
A native of Brentwood, CA, Glinton, 26, is a member of the Turks & Caicos men's national team. Glinton missed the 2004 & 2005 season through injury. The Bradley University product was drafted by Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy in 2002 before transferring to the Dallas Burn in 2003. His two-year MLS totals included 44 games played with one goal and four assists.
Battery plays two on road before returning for next Wednesday's MLS cup clash
The Charleston Battery heads to Minnesota Thursday to take on the Thunder in a USL First Division game; kick off is set for 8:05 PM (CNN 1450 AM). The Battery continues its travels on Saturday with a 7:30 PM fixture versus the Virginia Beach Mariners (CNN 1450 AM). The Battery returns to Blackbaud Stadium next Wednesday, August 2, for the big match versus Major League Soccer's FC Dallas in the fourth round of the US Open Cup.
