
Miami FC to face Deportivo Alaves

Miami, FL- A week after having confirmed that Miami FC will face Guatemalan champions, Municipal, on August 9th, the South Floridian squad confirms another international friendly to be held at Tropical Park Stadium. On Wednesday, August 2, Miami FC faces Spanish Second Division squad, Deportivo Alavés, at 8:00 PM.
Deportivo Alavés was founded in 1921. In 1930, they ascended to Spanish First Division for the first time in their history by winning the second division championship. In 1946, they won Copa Federacion. In 1954, they won the Second Division championship once again and ascended for the second time to the First Division.
In 1998, they reached the semifinals of the Copa Del Rey, eliminating the powerful Real Madrid in the Round of 16. That same year, they reached the First Division for the third time. In 2001, Deportivo Alavés reached the UEFA Cup final, which they lost to England's Liverpool 5-4.
Throughout their history, Deportivo Alavés has had many important players as part of their club. For instance, Argentine Jorge Valdano was among their stars in the 70's. Throughout the 90's and recently, players like Ivan Campo, Tellez, and Karmona have stood out for this institution.
Currently, Deportivo Alavés has international Australian John Aloisi in their squad. The Aussi forward scored a goal against Japan in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
