GARY, IND. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats took game one at the Steel Yard against the Lake Country DockHounds on Monday evening
On Independence Day, Lake Country started Brent Jones, but he only lasted 1/3 of an inning.
Michael Woodworth hit a single to open things for Gary SouthShore. After three consecutive walks and two wild pitches, the score was 2-0. Michael Cruz drove in two runs with a double to right field. The RailCats would plate one in the second inning to make the score 5-0.
In the fourth, Wilfredo Gimenez jacked a solo home run over the left-field wall. That would be the DockHounds only run on the night.
In the fifth, Cruz drove in Jesus Marriaga with a double. Another double by Sam Abbott scored the second of three runs in the inning.
Jones took the loss for the DockHounds, giving up four earned runs in just 1/3 innings pitched. Harrison Francis earned his second win against Lake Country with seven strong innings and giving up one run.
