San Antonio Rampage News Release
ONTARIO, CA (Nov. 9, 2016) - The San Antonio Rampage (5-7-0-0) handed the Ontario Reign (3-3-3-0) their first home regulation loss of the season in a 5-1 victory on Wednesday at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Rampage forward Gary Nunn recorded two goals on the night, earning his first multi-point game of the season. Center Sam Henley also had his first two-point game of the year, with a pair of assists.
Rampage goaltender Spencer Martin saved 20-of-21 shots on goal by the Reign, including four-of-five opportunities with the man advantage for the league's top ranked power-play unit. Martin earned the First Star of the Game, and A.J. Greer's game-winning goal late in the second period - his fourth of the season - earned him the Second Star of the Game.
San Antonio set the tone early for a strong offensive performance when a first-period goal from Troy Bourke gave the Rampage a 1-0 lead at the 17:42 mark. Bourke's goal was his first of the season, assisted by Mike Sislo.
A physical second period saw 14 combined penalties and an equalizer from Ontario, but Greer netted a pass from J.T. Compher on the power play to regain the lead with just 39 seconds left to play in the stanza. Ontario's only goal of the night also came on a power play, from Mike Amadio at 10:15 in the period.
San Antonio carried the momentum from Greer's last-minute goal into the third period. Nunn picked up his first goal of the night just over two minutes into the frame, netting a beautiful backhanded pass from Henley in front of the cage at 2:08 in the period.
Matt Lashoff cashed in the second goal of the third period, on a pass from Cody Corbett, from the point on the power-play at 5:46 in the stanza to give the Rampage a 4-1 lead. Nunn's second goal of the night sealed the deal for a fifth Rampage road victory this season. With a hand from Henley, Nunn weaved through Reign defensemen before scorching the puck past the right side of Ontario goaltender Jack Campbell with 33 seconds remaining in regulation.
