The St. George Roadrunners(13-9) used three home runs to down the Orange County Flyers (11-11) in the first game of a double header Friday night at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.
St. George battled back and forth before Eddy Garabito's two run shot proved to be the game winner in the fifth.
Justin Abbott threw five innings to pick up the win to improve to 4-3.
After falling behind by three runs in the second thanks to two St. George homers From Angel Sanchez and Juan Serrano but Orange County came roaring back.
Josh Arhart got the Flyers on the board in the second with a RBI single before the Flyers offense began to click.
In the third, the Flyers took the lead thanks to a three run triple from Nick Guerra before he scored on a sac fly from Jeff Van Houten to cap a four run inning.
St. George regained the lead in the fifth on the back of another Eddy Garabito two run homer.
St. George held the one run lead into the seventh, when Pat Breen walked to start the bottom of the inning. Bartolome Fortunato got Rios to bunt back to him in the air before doubling up Pat Breen for the double play. Jeff LaRue singled but Fortunato got Guerra to strike out to end the game.
Charles Merricks threw a complete game for the Flyers battling through seven innings with over 120 pitches but was hung with the loss to drop to 5-3 on the year, while striking out four.
The teams took a 30 minute break before meeting in game two.
