Gameday Preview: Tri-City Set for Road Game against Des Moines

Urbandale, IA. - The Tri-City Storm hit the road today for a matchup against the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, Iowa. Tonight's game is the second game of a three game in three-day weekend for the Storm. Last night at the Viaero Center, Tri-City defeated defending Eastern Conference Champion Youngstown Phantoms by a final score of 7-3. Tomorrow, Tri-City will travel to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa for a road game against the Sioux City Musketeers. Tonight's game against Des Moines is scheduled for 7:05pm, with the broadcast beginning on HockeyTV & Storm Radio at 6:45pm.

Tri-City (27-8-1-1) seeks its first win at Buccaneer Arena in tonight's game. Through the first four games of a seven game season series, each team has won both of its home games. Tri-City will make its final trip to Buccaneer Arena next Saturday, and Des Moines will travel to the Viaero Center on April 12th in the final game of the season series. Tonight's game is the first meeting between the Storm and Buccaneers since November 2nd, a 5-2 road loss for Tri-City. Chase McLane and Filip Forsmark notched two goals in last night's Storm win over Youngstown, with Asa Kinnear, Shane Pinto, and Connor McMenamin also scoring for the Storm. In the win, Tri-City increased its lead atop the Western Conference standings. The Storm now lead 2nd place Des Moines and 3rd place Waterloo by six points.

Des Moines (23-10-1-3) picked up a road victory last night over the Sioux City Musketeers. After falling behind 1-0 in the 2nd period, the Buccaneers rallied with three unanswered goals. Rylee St. Onge, Michael Mancinelli, and Matt Brown all scored goals in the game, and Roman Durny made 22 saves on 23 shots to pick up the win in net for the Buccaneers. With the win, Des Moines jumped from 3rd to 2nd in the Western Conference standings and can lower the Storm's conference leading margin to just four points in tonight's game. Des Moines' has a home record of 12-5-0-2 entering tonight's game, with two of those home wins coming against Tri-City on October 19th, and November 2nd.
