Game Two between Chinooks and Bullfrogs

Green Bay, Wis- After last night's heartbreaking loss to the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-5 the Bullfrogs fall to 1-5 during the second half of the Northwoods League season. Now, after splitting the third series with the Chinooks, The Bullfrogs take on the Madison Mallards in a two-game home series starting tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m..

The Madison Mallards are 2-4 during the second half of the season. Madison is currently 4-6 in their last 10 games and just split their series against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders, winning last night's matchup 3-2. The Mallards and the Bullfrogs have faced off four times this season. The Frogs split both series and are 2-2 against the Mallards this year.

Last night, the designated hitter Mikey Filia (UC-Irvine) was selected as the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Game. He went 3-5 against the Chinooks with three hits, two RBIs, and one run. This season Filia has 18 appearances with the Bullfrogs posting 12 runs, 22 hits, 8 RBIs and six stolen bases. Troy Johnston (Gonzaga) also had a multi-hit game last night, posting two hits, two RBIs.

There are some new faces that have been added to the Bullfrogs roster recently. Infielder Richie Tecco (Rider University) has appeared in five games for the Bullfrogs. He has two hits and three RBIs so far this season. Another new face is Dan Leckie (Lafayette College). He only has two games played (both against the Lakeshore Chinooks). He has gotten one hit and one RBI.

On the mound tonight for the Bullfrogs is pitcher Conner Wollersheim (Kent State). Wollersheim leads the Bullfrogs pitching staff in wins with three, as well as throwing 35 strikeouts (second most for the Bullfrogs) and sports a 2.27 ERA. Wollersheim threw against the Madison Mallards on June 4th, getting the 4-1 win and striking out six batters in his six innings pitched. During that game, he only gave up one walk and three hits.

Pitching tonight for the Mallards is Nate Brown (Florida). The right-handed pitcher has a 4.50 ERA in one game appearances (against the Kenosha Kingfish). He gave up three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings pitched. Tonight will be Browns first away game.
