Colorado Eagles News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT. - Eagles goaltender Joe Cannata stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced, while forward Drayson Bowman and defenseman Collin Bowman each provided a goal in Colorado's 2-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday. The win gives the Eagles their first road victory of the season and a 2-0 start to the 2017-18 season.

After both teams exchanged chances through the first 18 minutes of the contest, Drayson Bowman finally broke through when he snagged a rebound between the circles and fed it past Utah goaltender Angus Redmond to give Colorado a 1-0 edge with 1:05 remaining in the first period.

Utah would storm back early in the second period, as defenseman Taylor Richart finished off an odd-man rush down the ice by slamming a rebound into the net from the top of the crease to tie the game at 1-1 with just 1:29 gone in the middle frame.

The Eagles would receive five power-play opportunities in the second period, including a 5-on-3 man-advantage, but the Grizzlies penalty kill would deny each of those chances, keeping the game knotted at 1-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Midway through the third period, Colorado would establish possession deep in the Grizzlies zone and a bouncing puck would find its way to the tape of Collin Bowman who would drive a slapshot into the back of the net to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage at the 11:08 mark of the final frame.

Utah would pull Redmond in the final 90 seconds of the contest to provide an extra attacker, but Colorado would slam the door defensively to secure the 2-1 victory. The Eagles outshot the Grizzlies 27-26 on the night. Colorado went 0-for-6 on the power-play, but went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, October 20th when the Norfolk Admirals make their first-ever appearance at the Budweiser Events Center. The puck drops at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center, tickets are available at Colorado Eagles.com.

Season tickets for the 2017-18 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $100 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
