Game Preview: Wings Look to Carry Season-Opener Victory Momentum
January 16, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings (1-0) hit the road for their first game away from the Wells Fargo Center when they travel to Toronto's Air Canada Centre for their matchup against the Toronto Rock (2-0) on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m. The Wings are coming off a decisive 13-8 victory over the Buffalo Bandits last Friday night. The game will air live on Comcast SportsNet.
This game will mark the first of three contests between the Wings and the Rock this season. After this weekend's game, the teams will meet two times in Philadelphia; once in March and in the regular season finale for the Wings on Saturday, April 13.
The Wings emerged the victors in the previous meeting between the two teams last season; edging the Rock 12-10 in Toronto on March 9, 2012. Toronto holds a 22-12 overall lead in head-to-head matchups, including an 11-5 advantage when playing the Wings in Toronto.
"Toronto always plays well at home in front of their crowd," said Wings Assistant Captain Brett Manney. "But we're heading out there with some momentum and we're looking forward to the challenge."
The Wings return home to the Wells Fargo Center when they take on the Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday, January 27 at 4 p.m. The game will feature a salute to American Heroes and a jersey auction to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
Tickets for all Wings 2013 home games are available by phone at 215-389-WING or online at WingsLAX.com.
