Knighthawks' Joe Walters to Debut 'J Dub' Sub
January 16, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
Rochester Knighthawks forward Joe Walters will dish out more than assists when the defending National Lacrosse League Champions host the Washington Stealth on Saturday, February 2nd. The Rochester native will debut his "J Dub" sub at noon at the Subway, located down 31 in Perinton. Walters will serve up his tasty creation and sign autographs with his Knighthawks teammates from noon to 2:00 p.m.
The "J Dub" sub, which references Walters' nickname, was made exclusively for the Perinton Subway. The longtime Subway fan admitted he felt like a little kid as he designed a sub with all of his favorite ingredients. It includes roasted chicken, Swiss cheese, spinach, cucumbers, peppers, light mayo, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar, served on toasted hearty Italian bread.
"I have been a fan of Subway since I was a little kid. I can remember my Dad and I picking up a sub after basketball and lacrosse practices," he said. "The 'J Dub' sub is my personal go-to that I have been ordering for all these years and I am proud to share it with everyone in Rochester at the Perinton location."
Walters will serve up his tasty creation and sign autographs with his Knighthawks teammates from noon to 2:00 p.m. During the event, the team and Subway will raffle off tickets and prizes, and offer a special sub promotion. On February 2nd, if you buy one footlong sub and a 30-ounce drink, you will receive an additional footlong sub for free. As part of the season-long partnership with the Knighthawks, fans can also redeem their Knighthawks ticket stubs for a free six-inch sub with a purchase of a 30-ounce drink the week following a home game.
"It is an honor for Perinton Subway to be able to create a sub specifically for an outstanding player such as Joe Walters and work side by side with the Rochester Knighthawks," said Shara Fox, the Perinton Subway Manager. "Let's Go Hawks!"
The appearance kicks off an exciting evening of events for the Knighthawks. For the first time ever, the NLL team will welcome three-time NASCAR Champ Tony Stewart to The Blue Cross Arena. The Knighthawks are offering fans an opportunity to attend an exclusive pregame event at The Radisson Riverside Hotel at 5:30 pm. The purchase of a Pit Pass includes admission into the Meet and Greet with Tony Stewart, Pit Pass Credential, 8 by 10 Photo of Tony Stewart, hors d'oeuvres and a ticket to the Knighthawks Game all for $250.
Rochester will also host its annual Men's Health Night, presented by the Urology Associates of Rochester. The team will wear special jerseys, which will be auctioned off to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. A Tony Stewart numbered, lettered and autographed jersey will be among the auction items. Tickets for the game are on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com, and at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office.
