
Game Preview: Spirit Host Sudbury Wolves on Sunday Covenant Kids Day

SAGINAW, MI. - On Sunday evening, the Saginaw Spirit (27-26-8-0, 62 points, 3rd in West Division) host the Sudbury Wolves (15-37-9-0, 39 points, 5th in Central Division) at The Dow Event Center for Covenant Kids Day. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m.
This game will feature $5 tickets for children 12 and under. The first 1,000 will receive a 2017-18 Saginaw Spirit team poster courtesy of Yeo & Yeo CPA's & Business Consultants.
On Saturday night, the Saginaw Spirit squared off against the Windsor Spitfires in front of 4,816 fans for the seventh annual at Hockey for the Homeless game at The Dow Event Center. Windsor scored at least once in each period with two goals coming in the final frame. Windsor defenseman Connor Corcoran recorded two assists on the night and Michael DiPietro earned his 7th shutout of the season as the Spitfires secured a 4-0 victory.
The Wolves also played on Saturday night, where they fell 3-2 in overtime to Flint. Power plays were capitalized on as each team recorded a goal with the man-advantage in the first frame. The first goal of the game was scored by Owen Gilhula. Flint answered back with a goal in the first and second frame to take a 2-1 lead. Drake Pilon tied the game to end regulation and go into overtime where Maurizio Colella scored the game-winning goal for Flint.
The last meeting between Saginaw and Sudbury was on January 19th at the Sudbury Community Arena where the Spirit came out victorious in a 4-2 win. Hearst Ontario native, Max Grondin scored the game-winning goal and Spirit goaltender Cameron Lamour had 28 saves against the Wolves.Â
Tonight marks the 30th regular season meeting between the Saginaw Spirit and the Sudbury Wolves. The Spirit enters tonight's match-up with a 21-7-1-0 record against the Wolves, with a home record of 12-3-0-0 at The Dow Event Center.
