Game Preview: Generals Look to Remain Undefeated against North Bay Battalion at Home in Friday's Matchup at 7:35pm
October 4, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release
The North Bay Battalion are storming the gates of the Tribute Communities Centre in an attempt to end the perfect 4-0 start to the season for your Oshawa Generals. The Battalion are looking to bounce back from a dismal 1-4 start to the season. This is the first time these teams are matching up this season.
Tonight's game is brought to you by Meridian who will be running a Fill the Pig campaign in support of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Scienes. Visit them tonight on the concourse at Section 116 to for more information on how you can help support this great cause!
Players to Watch; Oshawa
Brett Neumann - The speedy forward has had a strong start to the season. In four games he has 2 goals and 4 assists. After a career year with 45 goals and 79 points last season, Neumann will be looking to increase those numbers as his role increases within the organization. Neumann is in his overage season with the club, so he'll be trying to impress some organizations at the next level - he's already on the right path as he was invited to the New York Islanders development camp this past summer - attending with Generals captain, Kyle MacLean.
Daniel Walker - A new General acquired this off-season from the Battalion, Walker has shown some offensive upside with 1 goal and 1 assist in his first 4 contests with the team. He will be looking to surpass his career high of 10 points in a season. Look for Walker to bring a physical element against his old team. The 6-foot-5, 220 pound, forward leads the Generals in penalty minutes with 10.
Players to Watch; North Bay Brad Chenier - The Hanmer, ON, native comes into Oshawa with 5 points in his last 4 games. The winger is sure to fire at least a few shots on the Generals goalkeeper, as the Battalion captain leads his squad with 24 shots. Expect him to lead by example in their attempt to dethrone the Generals from their undefeated status.
Liam Arnsby - The Battalion's first round selection in this year's OHL priority selection is a little bit undersized for a centreman at 5'10" and 174lbs, but has some offensive upside. Selected 9th overall, the Battalion expect Arnsby to be a big part of their future. Although his start has been a bit weaker than expected (1 goal in 5 games; -6), expect to see flashes from the youngster, who will be 15 until November 20.
Generals Captain Kyle MacLean returns to Oshawa this weekend - His appearances in games on October 4th vs North Bay, 5th at Hamilton, and 6th vs Saginaw will be game-time decisions.
Your Oshawa Generals have been ranked seventh overall in this week's Kia CHL Top-10 ranking; a ranking that includes teams from each the OHL, the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
Allan McShane appeared in this week's OHL News - Radio with Terry Doyle. You can find the 8-minute interview.
