Game Preview: Game 3 at Owen Sound

Owen Sound, Ont. - The opening round series between the Saginaw Spirit and the Owen Sound Attack shifts to the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre for Game 3 on Monday night. Saginaw holds the 2-0 series lead after picking up a pair of home wins.

The Series so Far:

The first game of the series took place on Thursday, March 28th where the Spirit took a 1-0 series lead off of a 6-4 home win. Josh Bloom and Hunter Haight both netted two goals for Saginaw, Owen Beck and Zayne Parekh both collected three assists, and Andrew Oke started for the Spirit stopping 24 of 28 shots. Owen Sound's Cedrick Guindon netted a goal early in the first, Declan Waddick and Deni Goure scored in the second, and Konnor Smith tallied one late into the third. Carter George protected the cage for the Attack stopping 40 0f 45 in the rookie's first playoff start.

Game two took place on Saturday, March 30th where Saginaw took the second game at home with a 5-2 victory. Owen Beck finished with three points (1G, 2A), Josh Bloom netted his third goal in a two-point night, and James Guo netted his first career OHL playoff goal. Andrew Oke guarded the Spirit's blue paint making 35 saves on 37 shots in a stellar performance. James Petrovski and Ethan Burroughs both tallied their firsts of the OHL playoffs, Cedrick Guindon collected two assists, and Deni Goure assisted on an Attack goal late into the third. Carter George made the start for Owen Sound stopping 32 of 36 in the game two loss.

Players to Watch:

Owen Beck leads Saginaw into Game 3 with six points in the series. His 20-game point streak to close the regular season was the second-longest in the Ontario Hockey League this season. Coupled together, Beck has points in 22 straight hockey games (14G-26A-40P). Josh Bloom rides a point streak of his own into the playoffs, with 14 straight games on the score sheet. He's registered three goals and an assist in the first two games against Owen Sound, and has 26 points (12G, 14P) in the last 14 games. Andrew Oke's performance in Game 2 (35 SV/37 SH) lands him with a .908 SV% and 3.00 GAA headed into Monday night.

The Owen Sound Attack have boasted some of the most talented scorers in the OHL during the regular season, and look to showcase that talent as the series shifts back to the Bayshore for Game 3. Colby Barlow notched 40 goals during the regular season, but is still looking for his first tally of the series. Deni Goure finished the regular season with 96 points (6th in the OHL), and has a goal and an assist through two games. Cedrick Guindon leads Owen Sound in scoring (1G-2A-3P), and Carter George has an .889 SV% and 4.64 GAA.
