March 18, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Preview: Chicago Express (29-25-6-4, 68pts) vs. Trenton Titans (20-37-3-5, 48 points)
When: Puck drops at 4:00 pm, doors open at 3:00 pm
Where: Sears Centre Arena, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192
Tonight's Matchup:
The Express look to bounce back tonight after falling 4-1 to the Trenton Titans at the Sears Centre Arena in yesterday's matchup. Despite a strong first period from Chicago, the teams went tied into the second period, where the Titans took over. Chicago was held to just three shots in the frame as Trenton earned a 2-0 lead. Chicago cut the score to 2-1 midway through the third period, but the Titans answered with two of their own in the frame as well for the win. The Express got some help from South Carolina, who down the Cincinnati Cyclones last night, to stay just one point out of the final playoff spot. However, the Reading Royals picked up an overtime victory to jump ahead of the Express in the Eastern Conference standings. A win tonight by Chicago combined with losses from both Reading and Cincinnati would put the Express all alone in the eighth and final playoff spot.
Express Notes:
The Express lost in regulation at home for just the second time on a Saturday night, as they are now 5-2-3 in such situations... Last night's game was the first time the Express have faced the Titans at the Sears Centre Arena, as all four previous games were played in Trenton... After back-to-back games with multiple power play goals, the Express did not strike on the man advantage last night. They were 5-for-8 (62.5%) in their previous two games.
