Express Fall to Trenton 4-1
March 18, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, gave up two goals in the second period and were unable to mount a comeback falling to the Trenton Titans 4-1 Saturday night.
The Titans were the first team to strike 10 minutes into the second period when F Ryan Hayes tipped a long Ray DiLauro shot over the blocker of G Rob Madore to earn the lead. Trenton added to the lead just 6 minutes later on the power play when there was a scramble in front of the net and LW Andy Bohmback emerged from the clutter and chipped in his 24th goal of the season. Despite Chicago holding an 11-8 shot advantage in the first period, Trenton turned the tables and gained the advantage in the second out shooting the Express 20-14 through two.
Chicago would bring it back to within 1 goal in the third at 9:48 on a Maxime Gratchev goal that knuckled right past unsuspecting Titans G Brad Phillips. The goal was Gratchev's 13th of the season. Defensemen Drew Paris and Taylor Ellington both earned assists on the goal. That was as close as the Express would get as Trenton extended their lead to 3-1 when LW Randy Rowe buried his 19th goal of the season past Madore with just under 3 minutes to go in the contest. Trenton added an empty netter at 18:57 from F Andy Bohmbach, his second point of the night, to make the final score 4-1.
F Pierre-Luc Faubert is just 3 PIM away from 200 in his ECHL career... Faubert and RW Danick Paquette both had their 4 game point streaks snapped tonight... The Express fell at home in regulation for just the second time on a Saturday night, as they are now 5-2-3 in those situations.
The home stand wraps up tomorrow with the Trenton Titans returning to the Sears Centre Arena. Fans are invited to skate with the team following the game. To get tickets, call the Express at 224-220-1333.
