Game Preview: Express at Kalamazoo Tonight
March 9, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Preview: Chicago Express (26-23-6-4, 62pts) vs. Kalamazoo Wings (33-21-2-5, 71 points)
When: Puck drops at 6:30 pm
Where: Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, MI
Tonight's Matchup:
The Express continue to battle their way into the Kelly Cup Playoffs, as they currently sit three points behind the Florida Everblades who hold the eighth and final spot. Chicago has played well at Wings Stadium of late, including winning back-to-back contests by identical 4-3 scores. The path to those victories was very different, however, as Chicago jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the second period on Sunday, February 19, and held on for the win. In the next matchup, on February 24, the Express came back from a 3-0 first period deficit, tied the game at 3-3 at the end of the second frame, and potted the only third period goal in the victory. The Express are 6-3-1 against Kalamazoo this season, including a 2-2-1 record in Kalamazoo.
Express Notes:
The Express have not allowed a power play goal in three straight games, their longest stretch of the season... Chicago is 17-1-4 when leading after two periods... F Pierre-Luc Faubert needs two assists to reach 100 in his ECHL career... LW Maxime Gratchev needs two points to reach 100 in his North American career... Chicago has allowed less than three goals in three of their last five games.
Recent Transactions:
RW Danick Paquette acquired form Utah in exchange for D Evan Stephens yesterday... G Rob Madore signed yesterday... G Tom Schaul released as an Emergency Backup on Wednesday... D Steven Delisle was activated from the 21-day IR on Saturday... G Peter Mannino was assigned to Portland (AHL) by Winnipeg (NHL) on Saturday.
