
Allen York Recalled to Columbus

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced today the G Allen York has been recalled to the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL. In a separate transaction, the Express have also signed F Matt Gingera to an Amateur Tryout Agreement.
York heads up to the Blue Jackets for the third time this season. He has appeared in five games with the Blue Jackets, including starting against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 29. York is 0-1-0-0 in his five games, with .860 save percentage and 3.78 goals against average. The rookie netminder has played 11 games for the Chicago Express, with a 4-4-1-1 record, 3.28 save percentage, and .892 goals against average. He surrendered just one goal in a game twice with Chicago, when he stopped 38 of 29 shots in a 2-1 win against the Cincinnati Cyclones on November 19, as well as turning aside 23 of the 24 shots he faced against Wheeling last Sunday.
Gingera, 24, just finished a four year career at Sacred Heart University (NCAA). The Winnipeg, MB, native played 142 games during his tenure, notching 61 goals and 48 assists for 109 points. He wrapped up his senior season this year, posting career highs for goals (17), assists (16), and points (33). The 5-10, 174 pound forward was also an alternate captain for Sacred Heart this season.
Chicago hits the road for the next two games, as they battle the Kalamazoo Wings at Wings Stadium tonight and tomorrow. Chicago then returns home to take on the Nailers once again on Wednesday, March 14. The homestand continues against Toledo on Friday, March 16, and against the Trenton Titans on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. Friday night is a Dollar Friday at the Sears Centre Arena, while on Saturday the Express will have St. Patrick's Day Festivities, including a game-worn-jersey auction after the game.
