Game Preview | Warriors vs Rock

April 26, 2019 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) - Vancouver Warriors News Release

WARRIORS FACE ROCK: The first and only meeting between the Rock and Warriors this season. Toronto is locked into the #3 seed in the East and will look to improve on their 11-6 record. Vancouver's 18-6 loss this to Rochester this past Saturday has eliminated them from NLL post season contention. Vancouver is 2-3 versus the East this year while Toronto is 3-1 versus the West. Toronto has an impressive 7-1 record this season in one goal games. Vancouver and Toronto both don't score the first goal of the game a bunch. Through 17 games, Toronto has lit the lamp first just seven times, while Vancouver has scored first just five times.

KEEPING UP WITH MITCH JONES: Warriors forward Mitch Jones has 35 goals and 43 assists on the season. Last year, Jones had career highs with goals, assists and points (38-43-81). The Ladner BC product has already equaled his career high in assists and is on pace to equal or better his goal and points totals from 2018.

BALL HAWK: The senior man on the Vancouver Warriors is once again one of the top ball hawks in the NLL. 35 years young Ian Hawksbee leads his team with 139 loose balls this season and now has 1351 'Loosies' in his stellar NLL career, good for 9th all time. If the 'Hawk' can corral 12 loose balls in this final game of the season, he would have 151 for the year, which would better his career season mark of 150, set 10 seasons ago in 2009. Whatever Hawksbee is drinking...pass it around!

HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE'S OUR BAL-LER: Keegan Bal and his righty teammate Jordan McBride are rounding into form and allowing the Warriors to attack from all sides. Bal notched a ten-point evening with six goals and four helpers, to help rout the San Diego Seals 14-6 on February 8th and recently bettered that evening with a NLL high 14 point night on April 14th as the Warriors clipped the Philadelphia Wings 19-12. Bal now has 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points, already tripling his career high for points in a season. Jordan McBride is right with his pick and roll partner, with 31 goals and 22 assists from the right side for 53 points. McBride's 31 goals exceeds his career high of 24, set SIX seasons ago with Colorado back in 2013.
