Game Preview - Blizzard Look to Clinch #2 Seed against Reading

June 6, 2012- Who: Reading Express (2-11) at Green Bay Blizzard (9-3)

When: Friday, June 8, 2012 7:30pm CT

Where: Resch Center - Green Bay, WI

Blizzard Update: Green Bay finished their road portion of the 2012 regular season last week at Lehigh Valley. The Blizzard used a powerful running game for a 41-33 win over the Steelhawks. La'Ron Council carried an IFL season-high 26 times for a new Blizzard team record of 119 yards and three touchdowns. Andrew Verboncouer rushed eight times for 31 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Donovan Porterie struggled with the passing attack as he completed 6 of 11 passes for 46 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. Porterie chipped in on the ground with 27 rushing yards and a touchdown. Council also caught three passes, which represented half of the receptions on the evening. He was the only Blizzard player to have multiple receptions. The Blizzard defense held the Steelhawks scoreless for most of the second half before giving up a touchdown near the end of the game. B.J. Hill led the swarming Blizzard defense with six tackles. Aaron Moore had an interception and Kenny Viser made a crucial fumble recovery after stripping the ball away from a Steelhawks player.

With Green Bay's victory and Bloomington's loss this past weekend, the Blizzard are one win away from clinching the #2 seed in the United Conference. The Blizzard have two games remaining, while the Edge have one. Green Bay holds the tiebreaker over the Edge due to beating them twice earlier this season

Express Update: Reading dropped a close game last week against Chicago 46-40. The Express had the lead early in the fourth quarter, but couldn't hold on. Quarterback Tim Bailey completed 17 of 28 passes for 189 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. His top target was Elliott White. He had six receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown. White also ran the ball seven times for 34 yards. Sam Bryant led the defense with nine tackles and a forced fumble. The Express already is assured of the first losing season in the franchise's seven-year history and will miss the playoffs for just the second time.

Series: Green Bay leads the series 4-0. The two teams faced each other twice during the regular season in 2011 and once in the playoffs. The most recent game was earlier this season on March 2nd in Reading. The Blizzard won 55-32. Three of the four games have been played in Green Bay.

Stats:Offense: Green Bay ranks fourth with 52.3 points per game, Reading ranks 14th with 39 points per game. The Blizzard offense is second in rushing yards per game with 94.5, Reading ranks 15th with 47.1 rushing yards per game. Defense: The Blizzard is fifth in the IFL at 43.2 points per game and the Express is ranked 13th with 52.6 points per game. The Blizzard defense gives up the fewest yards per game with 214. Green Bay leads the IFL with 26 interceptions, while Reading is ranked last with eight.
