Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Who: Lehigh Valley (4-5) at Green Bay Blizzard (7-2)
When: Friday, May 11 7:30pm CT
Where: Resch Center - Green Bay, WI
Blizzard Update: Green Bay looks to keep the momentum going after two big victories over Bloomington. Last week, the Blizzard defense created six turnovers and beat the Edge 34-21. With the victory, Green Bay now holds a half-game advantage over Bloomington and has captured the all-important tiebreaker should the teams have matching records after the regular season. Defensive backs B.J. Hill and James Romain had two interceptions each and defensive lineman P.J. South returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown. Wide receiver Desmond Tardy led the offense with three receptions for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Keep an eye on running back La'Ron Council Friday night. He is two touchdowns away from breaking the Blizzard single-season rushing touchdowns record. Council has already surpassed the Blizzard single-season rushing yards record.
Steelhawks Update: Lehigh Valley has been inconsistent this season. Lehigh Valley hired Chris Thompson as their new Head Coach during the off-season. Last season, Thompson led the Reading Express to a division title and playoff appearance. The Steelhawks have been inconsistent this season due to the quarterback position. Dixie Wooten started the first two games before the Steelhawks made a trade for Bryan Randall. The former Virginia Tech quarterback was the 2010 IFL MVP. In his first start, Randall helped Lehigh Valley set a franchise record for points and helped jump start the offense. But Randall left the team and signed with the Pittsburgh Power of the AFL on April 18th. Dale Fink has started the last two games. Last week, the Steelhawks were hurt by turnovers and lost 37-34 to a Reading team that had won one game. The Steelhawks have lost three games by three points or less.
Series: Green Bay and Lehigh Valley have only played one game. The Blizzard won 61-25 at the Resch Center on June 4th, 2011.
