(ALLEN, TEXAS: January 31, 2021) The Dallas Sidekicks will play their fourth game of the 2020-2021 MASL season on Saturday, January 31st against the San Diego Sockers at 3:00 PM at the Allen Event Center. The Dallas Sidekicks "Youth Soccer Night" is presented by the North Texas State Soccer Association..
This will be the second game of the season for the Sockers who who opened the season on Friday in Kansas City against the Comets. San Deigo is lead by Head Coach Phil Salvagio and they finished 15-6 last season. The team is an incredible 171-36 over the past 11 seasons, all under Coach Salvagio, making the playoffs every year and winning the championship three times with a 20-10 overall playoff record.
San Diego has added to their talented roster this year with four new additions, all of them focused on the defensive side. Veteran defender Marcio Leite joins the team coming over from the Milwaukee Wave who he helped win three titles to bolster the defense. Another veteran, Mitchell Cardenas, who has played the past two years in Texas playing for the Rio Grande Valley and Mesquite. They will be joined in the back by goalie Antony Siaha, originally from Cameroon, who at 6'6" is expected to be the tallest in MASL history but is more of a high potential prospect at this early point in his career. Earlier this week the team also announced goalie William Vanzella would be joining the team. Vanzella comes to San Diego from the Baltimore Blast and the four-time champion has a .706 save percentage which is among the best of active players and will team up with standout Boris Pardo to give the Sockers one of the best goalie combinations in the league.
The First Kick will be FC Dallas Head Coach Luchi Gonzalez. Luchi will be joined on the field by fellow FC Dallas Coaches Peter Luccin and Mikey Varas. The halftime performer will be Soccer Dave demonstrating his soccer juggling skills.
