FACING ATLANTA: Saturday's match marks the eighth all-time regular season meeting between the Fire and the Five Stripes. Entering the contest, Chicago is currently riding a two-game winning streak in the series, outscoring Atlanta 7-1 since July 3, 2019. Most recently, the Fire defeated Atlanta 2-0 at Soldier Field on Sept. 27, 2020, receiving goals from forward Robert Berić and midfielder Fabian Herbers.
NOTABLE CLUB CONNECTIONS: Prior to signing with the Fire, midfielder Gastón Giménez played for Atlanta head coach Gabriel Heinze at Vélez Sarsfield from 2018-2020 in Argentina's first division. Heinze, who managed Vélez Sarsfield from 2017-2020, was hired by Atlanta as the third fulltime head coach in Club history on Dec. 18, 2020.
Atlanta midfielder Mo Adams was drafted by the Fire as the No. 10 overall selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. Adams made 19 appearances (11 starts) for the Fire before being traded to Atlanta on July 17, 2019 in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money.
Five Stripes defender Andrew Gutman is a product of the Chicago Fire Academy. On Aug. 1, 2019, the Fire traded Gutman's rights to FC Cincinnati in exchange for up to $200,000 in General Allocation Money.
