San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will play their 2021 home opener today against FC Dallas at the newly renamed PayPal Park, presented by PayPal. The match kicks off at 12:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally on Univision and TUDN, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF. Today's match, which has an attendance capacity of 3,600 (20%), will be the first professional sporting event in Santa Clara County with fans since March 2020.
The Quakes will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Houston Dynamo FC during their season opener on April 16. Defender Paul Marie scored the team's lone goal in the match, earning a nomination for MLS Goal of the Week.
Saturday's match will be the debut of the team's new 'First Star' kit, a jersey designed after the team's championship-winning side 20 years prior. More information about the retro-inspired kit can be found here.
San Jose holds a 4-1-1 all-time record in home openers at PayPal Park. Today will be the first meeting between the Earthquakes and FC Dallas since June 8, 2019, 687 days ago.
