Idaho Steelheads News Release

Steel Reel The Idaho Steelheads return home to CenturyLink Arena riding a two-game winning streak as they host the Adirondack Thunder. The Steelheads have won four of their last five games and climbed into a tie for second place in the Mountain Division, while the Thunder look to improve upon a perfect road record.

The Steelheads fought for four points in Colorado against the Eagles last weekend, and got a boost from two players who scored their first goals of the season on Saturday. Joe Basaraba opened the scoring for the Steelheads with his first goal just 1:32 into the first period, and Connor Chatham capped the scoring in the third period with his first professional goal and the game-winner in a 4-3 Steelheads victory. Landon Bow earned his third straight win in net.

Old Foes... This will be Idaho's first meeting with the Thunder since the team left Stockton and moved across the country to Glens Falls, NY. Yet the Steelheads and Stockton Thunder met often from 2005-2015, battling 82 times with the Steelheads going 46-27-9 against the Thunder. The teams also met in the playoffs three times, with Idaho defeating Stockton in the first round in 2007 and in the 2010 Conference Final, while the Thunder were victorious in the 2013 Western Conference Final.

Rolling Badgers... Former Wisconsin Badgers and current Steelheads teammates Jefferson Dahl and Joe Faust continue their climb up their respective scoring lists. Dahl is in the midst of the league's longest active scoring streak at eight games (4-9-13) and sits sixth in the ECHL scoring race. Faust leads ECHL defenseman with four goals and is tied for first with nine points.

About the Thunder... The Thunder come to town in first place in the North Division and in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Thunder are one of only three teams unbeaten on the road this season, and their ten points away from home are third most in the ECHL. The Thunder feature a well-spread scoring attack, with Phil Lane and rookie Brian Ward leading the way with five goals apiece. Lane has seven points in seven games, while Ty Loney and Mikkel Aagaard are also averaging a point-per-game with nine points each. Aagaard is tied for third in rookie scoring while Ward's five goals are tied for first among all rookies. Adirondack's 23.3 percent power play is tied for second in the ECHL.
