Opportunity Knocks
Following a thrilling Game 3 win, the Winterhawks are staring down a second-round berth with one more victory. Portland was able to rope-a-dope its way to victory last night, rolling with Victoria's punches and landing counterblows late in the first and second periods before a third-period knockout. Leaning on that experience, plus lessons learned from being shut out in Game 4 of last year's first round against Everett when they held a 3-0 series lead, will help guide a veteran Portland group through what promises to be an up-tempo tilt at the SOFMC tonight.
Chef's Gourmet
You need your stars in the playoffs, and Portland's key players have been in stunning form to start the postseason. The tip of that spear is James Stefan, who shares the league lead in both points (8) and goals (5) after recording a hat-trick in Game 3. The Edmonton Oilers prospect has tallied two goals in the first period of each of the last two games and boasts a stellar 25 points in 23 career playoff games.
