Busy Week
As the Hawks make their way back to Canadian soil for the penultimate time this regular season, they also face their first run of four games in five days this year. Two games in Victoria tonight and tomorrow, one in Seattle on Friday and a home tilt against Vancouver on Saturday make for a hectic week, but also present an opportunity to pick up plenty of points in the U.S. Division title race! Portland sits just three points shy of first place, and though they don't face Everett this week, every point matters as the clubs try to keep up the pace. Strap in for what should be an exciting few days, starting tonight in BC!
Long Time No See
For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Hawks are back in Victoria, B.C.! The team traveled yesterday up to Port Angeles, Wash. before hopping on the ferry to Vancouver Island. You can follow along with the team's travel days here!
Of course, it's not the first time the Hawks have seen the Royals this year, as Victoria came down to Portland in December and took an overtime victory at the VMC. As the teams meet again on new ice, look for the Hawks to come out hot in search of a win of their own.
Eyes on the Opponent
Portland and Victoria don't know each other very well yet this season, but certainly will after a pair of back-to-back games this week. The Royals are currently dueling with Tri-City and Spokane for the Western Conference's final playoff spot, but boast some high-end talent at both ends of the ice. Forward Bailey Peach, picked up by Victoria after being released from the QMJHL, has electrified fans at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre with 66 points in 53 games this year and scored twice against Portland back in December. Defenseman Gannon Laroque paces Royals blueliners with 46 points this season, and also found the scoresheet against the Hawks in the teams' first meeting.
