Corpus Christi Hammerheads News Release

Corpus Christi, TX- After rolling by the Lubbock Lone Stars with an impressive second half offensive effort on March 21 and a nail-biting 1 point loss on the road at Tri-Cities a week ago, the Hammerheads (1-1) are looking to get their game back on track and build off their tough hard-nosed offensive running attack as they take on the San Angelo Stampede (0-2). The Hammerheads defense is going to have a slightly different feel to it this week as there will be new faces throughout. Eddie Miller, who has starred so far at wide out, is going to get a real crack this year at playing DB this time out. Look for some personnel moves elsewhere on defense as Coach McKinley shakes things up in the Shark Tank this week. Despite the loss to Tri-Cities, due to some key lapses in both concentration and discipline, the Hammerheads remain confident that they are the team to beat this year.

Who's Hot: RB Fred Wallace (6 TD's against Tri-Cities on 3/26), WR/DB Eddie Miller (2 TD's on 3/21), QB Chris Harrington (70% completion percentage), Carl Greenwood (1 INT on 3/21)

What to look for: Look for RB Fred Wallace to continue his dismantling of opposing defenses. Watch for the Hammerheads defense to pick apart an under-sized and under-experienced Stampede offense. Also, look for QB Chris Harrington to have a big day as the Hammerheads pass attack makes a resurgence at the Shark Tank this week.

Corpus Christi fans remember the San Angelo Stampede as the quick, strong, and dominating team that started 10-1 in the IFL last year. They boasted players such as QB Jason McKinley, RB/LB Mike Green, WR/DB Eddie Miller, DB Ken Davis, and RB Johnny Anderson. Well, gone is Anderson, and if the other names sound familiar, they should because they're all back. However, they are all with the Hammerheads this year and they're out for blood. The Stampede (0-2) suffered a loss against Beaumont in their first outing and took a 68-7 shellacking last week from Wyoming. The Stampede are looking to get back on track this week, but against the Hammerheads it will be no easy task.
