Green Bay Gamblers News Release

Green Bay - The Green Bay Gamblers have acquired defenseman Toby Heaslip from the Ohio Jr. Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Ryan Hill.

Heaslip, 18, was the Blue Jackets first round pick (4th overall) in the 2006 USHL Entry Draft. Prior to his time in the USHL, Heaslip played in the Eastern Junior Hockey League with the Jersey Hitmen, where he was teammate of current Gamblers forward Bryan Haczyk. The Naples, Florida native appeared in three games with the Blue Jackets accumulating six minutes in penalties.

"We had Toby rated very high on our draft board this past year," said Gamblers Head Coach Mark Mazzoleni. "It's a move we believe will upgrade our defense and we're excited to have him."

Heaslip will wear number #4 for the Gamblers.

Meanwhile, Hill, 18, appeared in two games with the Gamblers this season. Selected in the 14th round (115th overall), Hill came to the Gamblers via the Minnesota High School ranks where he played for Hermantown.
