Gamblers Get a Point in Des Moines, Fall in Bloomington

The Green Bay Gamblers earned a point in the standings on Friday in Des Moines (3-2) and fell to the Central Illinois Flying Aces on Saturday (5-1). Green Bay, who has played eight of their first 11 games on the road, is 4-6-1 on the 2018-19 campaign.

Des Moines forward Kaden Bohlsen scored in overtime and Roman Durney made 28-saves in the Buccaneers 3-2 win over the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday in Des Moines, Iowa. Rory Herrman (16:53) and Dylan Wendt (18:43) tallied 2nd period goals less than two minutes apart to give the Gamblers a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Des Moines tied the game at the 11:44 mark of the third. Bohlsen finished off an odd man rush in overtime for the game winner (2:21). Evan Fear, who is reigning USHL Goaltender of the Week, turned aside 28-shots.

Central Illinois got goals from five different players and goaltender Ryan Snowden made 19-saves in the Flying Aces 5-1 win over Green Bay on Saturday in Bloomington, Illinois. Trailing 2-0 early in the third period, the Gamblers cut the lead in half, as Paul Maust found the back of the net (9:03). Central Illinois regained the two-goal lead less than 2-minutes later (10:56) and added insurance goals at the 14:17 and 15:52 marks of the final period. Evan Fear suffered the loss in net turning aside 37 shots.
