Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Central Illinois Flying Aces are proud to host their first annual Salute to Service night on Saturday, November 10, at Grossinger Motors Arena. The night will focus on honoring veterans and paying respects to the future service members with the Oath of Enlistment ceremony.

With thanks to our community partnerships, over 500 veterans will be able to attend the game for free. The Aces have partnered with the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, National Guard, Legion, and VFW to honor all of the veterans in our community.

"This night isn't just about hockey", said Aces COO Zach Cooper. "This night is about saying thank you for the sacrifice our service men and women, and their families, have given throughout the decades to keep us safe and protect our way of life."

Aces players will be wearing special American themed jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Peoria Iron Sights. The Peoria Iron Sights' mission is to organize and administer an ice hockey program that provides a recreational, therapeutic experience and education to veterans. There will be a silent auction during the game culminating with a live auction just after the final period.

The Oath of Enlistment will be administered during the intermission honoring new recruits from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. We will also be honoring a number of active service men and women who will be deploying for duty in the coming days.

Fans are encouraged to come early to receive an Aces challenge coin and to witness a special pre-game ceremony for the 7:00 p.m. game against the Dubuque Fighting Saints including a ceremonial puck drop with the Illinois State University ROTC Cadets presenting the colors for the Singing of the National Anthem. The Iron Sights players will join the Aces for the pre-game introductions of the teams.

A portion of all tickets purchased through flyingaceshockey.com will go to local organizations that supports our service men and women.
