Gallup Outlaws News Release
Gallup, NM. The ABA Gallup Talons will be having Funn this year and that is with two "n's." Head Coach and General Manager Clayton Shields signed Will Funn, 23, Rialto CA today following the completion of the Gallup Talons Veteran Camp.
Funn tied with Damitrius Coleman of Mercer in leading the NCAA at the end of the 2004-2005 season with eight assists per game. Funn, a 6'4", 200 lb graduate of Portland State University, will be leading the Talons at the point guard position. "We're really fortunate to have a player of Will's caliber come to Gallup our first year," said Shields.
Twenty players vied for the 10 remaining roster spots. Shields said he will announce the final roster for the Gallup Talons in the coming days. "We felt it was important to pick the team now," said Joe Kolb, team owner. "We will start practice October 1st and we want our players not to be rushed in making their arrangements to find housing and supplemental employment." Kolb said he wants the players to come into the season relaxed and not rushed to get their lives in order before moving to Gallup.
