Published on September 12, 2005 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
New Orleans, LA. Jim McCaa, owner of the ABA New Orleans professional basketball team scheduled to begin play in November, 2006 will put together a team of area players to play a benefit exhibition game in Atlanta, Georgia on November 27th. According to McCaa, "Hurricane Katrina was devastating to so many people including many associated with the Blues. We want to do something constructive and have set up a benefit game with the Georgia Gwizzlies in Atlanta with the proceeds going to the Gulf Coast residents who were victims of the storm. The Gwizzlies are a good team and should provide an interesting evening of basketball." Embry Malone, Gwizzlies owner added, "We'll have a local artist performing at the game, tickets will be sold at the gate only, but contributions will be accepted. The game will be played at Forbes Arena, 830 Westview Drive in Atlanta. For more information, email abablues@aol.com, gwizzlies@msn.com, call 678 508 0467 or visit www.abalive.com.
