Gallimore and Schappert get goals in 3-2 loss to Americans

Kennewick - The Tri-City Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 Friday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
Tri-City (33-11-0-1) went in front 1-0 56 seconds into the first period on a goal by Patrick Holland. Justin Feser and Neal Prokop had the assists on the goal.
Tri-City outshot Seattle 13-10 in the first period. Seattle (14-24-3-4) tied the game 50 seconds into the second period on a goal by Burke Gallimore. Brenden Silvester carried the puck from the T-Birds zone up the right side. Silvester lost the puck just inside the Americans blue line where Gallimore got to it. Gallimore skated into the right circle and put a hard wrist shot on goal with a Tri-City defender in front of him. Gallimore's shot beat Tri-City goalie Alexander Pechurskiy over the blocker.
The Americans went back in front, 2-1, at 10:30 of the second on a second goal from Holland. Brooks Macek had the only assist on the goal.
The T-Birds quickly tied the game 2-2 at 12:58 of the second on the ninth goal of the year from Jeremy Schappert. Lindsay Nielsen put a slap shot on goal that was blocked by a defenseman's stick. Schappert got to the puck and ripped it by Pechurskiy for the tying goal.
Seattle outshot Tri-City 14-10 in the second period and led 24-23 in total shots after 40 minutes of action.
Holland scored a third goal at 15:29 of the third period to give the Americans a 3-2 lead. Feser and Jarret Toll had assists on the goal.
Seattle outshot Tri-City 10-1 in the third period and 34- 24 in the game.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 21 saves on 24 shots and his record is now 12-20-3-4.
Pechurskiy stopped 32 of 34 shots and his record is now 4-1-0-0.
The T-Birds take on the Kamloops Blazers at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at ShoWare Center. They are in Everett on Sunday to face the Silvertips at 5:05 p.m. at Comcast Arena.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
