Galiev, Macaulay Drafted into National Hockey League

LOS ANGELES, CA --- The final six rounds of the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft were staged at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Saturday, with two members of the reigning QMJHL regular season champion Saint John Sea Dogs being selected over the course of the day-long proceedings.

Dynamic import winger Stanislav Galiev was chosen in the third round (86th overall) by the Washington Capitals, while talented two-way forward Stephen MacAulay went 164th overall (Round 6) to the St. Louis Blues.

Galiev, 18, turned in a sensational freshman major junior campaign with Saint John in 2009-10 after being selected with the first overall pick at last summer's CHL Import Draft. The Russian-born playmaker registered 15G-45A-60P in 67 games played this past season en route to earning a spot on the QMJHL's All-Rookie Team. Galiev went on to lead all first-year players in playoff scoring with 8G-11A-19P in 21GP during the Sea Dogs' run to the President's Cup Finals.

MacAulay, 18, has recorded 10G-17A-27P-47PIM in 103 games played with Saint John since being selected in the third round (52nd overall) of the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft. A native of Cole Harbour, NS, MacAulay has tallied 2G-8A-10P-10PIM in 23 career post-season contests.
