LA Galaxy News Release
LOS ANGELES GALAXY HOST COLORADO RAPIDS SATURDAY NIGHT IN DO OR DIE PLAYOFF MATCH: Despite a 1-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids at INVESCO Field at Mile High last Friday (see more below), the Los Angeles Galaxy have given themselves all to play for in the second leg of their aggregate-goal, home and home MLS Western Conference semifinal series against the Rapids on Saturday, October 30 at 7:00 pm at The Home Depot Center in Carson.
FANS COMING OUT TO CHEER ON THE GALAXY SHOULD WEAR GOLD: The Galaxy urge all fans in attendance to wear gold-colored clothing as they cheer on their favorite team and watch them "Go For Gold" as they attempt to come from behind to take the series from the Rapids in this crucial Western Conference affair.
Fans unable to make it out to The Home Depot Center for the Galaxy-Rapids game on Saturday evening are welcome to listen to it on the radio LIVE in either English (KMPC - 1540 AM) or Spanish (KMXE - 830 AM).
TICKETS FOR CRUCIAL ELIMINATION GAME ON SALE THROUGH GALAXY TICKET OFFICE: Tickets for Saturday's Galaxy-Rapids match at The Home Depot are already on sale. As one of the opportunities to buy tickets to the match, the Galaxy is offering a "Go For Gold" Playoff Pak, which includes four tickets to that evening's game and four "Go For Gold" t-shirts starting at just $60. Fans interested in getting more information or purchasing the "Go For Gold" Playoff Pak or wanting more information on tickets to the match should contact the Galaxy ticket office directly by calling toll-free at 1-877-3GALAXY.
RAPIDS TAKE SERIES OPENER 1-0 IN A CLIFFHANGER IN DENVER: Continuing to rely on the formula that served them well in the regular season, the Colorado Rapids used an opportunistic goal from Jean Philippe Peguero and some supernatural goalkeeping from Joe Cannon to defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 in the first game of their Western Conference Semifinal series. Peguero, the Rapids' regular season scoring leader, struck for the first goal of the 2004 MLS Cup Playoffs and the game's only goal in the 30th minute, finally slamming home the rebound of a corner kick after Nat Borchers had two bites at the cherry. Cannon, meanwhile, was at the top of his game and made some amazing saves on the most dangerous of the Galaxy's chances to earn the shutout. However, with the Galaxy hosting the second leg, a defeat of the Rapids by more than a goal and a berth in the Western Conference final are very much within reach.
GALAXY, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON TEAM UP FOR CLOTHING DRIVE SATURDAY: The Galaxy is asking for your support by donating your gently used or new coats, clothing or blankets. All items will be donated to the Midnight Mission that provides services to homeless men, women and children in the L.A. area. Collection booths will be located in SoccerFest and at the Southwest and Northeast entrances of The Home Depot Center.
GALAXY FOUNDATION RAFFLES OFF "GO FOR GOLD SCOOTER" AT HOME PLAYOFF GAMES: The Galaxy Foundation will be raffling off a SunL electric scooter, donated by Radiovisa at the club's first two home playoff games. All proceeds will benefit the Foundation. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Galaxy Foundation booths located in SoccerFest or the main concourse beginning this Saturday, October 30th.
MAS GALAXY PREVIEWS GAME TWO OF THE GALAXY-RAPIDS SERIES: Más Galaxy, the club's Spanish-Language radio talk show, which airs each Wednesday at 8 pm on KMXE 830 AM, will give fans an inside look at Game two of the Galaxy-Rapids series. The program, hosted by Troy Santiago and Rigoberto Cervantez, will feature analysis by both Santiago and Cervantez.
