Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Colorado Mammoth announced today that transition player Nenad Gajic will have micro-fracture surgery to repair an injured ankle and will miss the remainder of the season. The second-year player out of Nebraska-Omaha was off to a great start in 2009. Through five games played, Gajic was second on the squad with 32 loose balls, including a season high 11 in the January 31 win over New York. He also had a goal or assist in each game played this season.
"It's incredibly disappointing to lose a guy like Nenad," said Mammoth General Manager Steve Govett. "He brings a very intelligent and athletic game to the Mammoth, his hard work and intensity will be sorely missed for the remainder of this season. We look forward to his anticipated return for the 2010 training camp."
Gajic will be replaced on the Colorado roster by Tim Booth. A former member of the San Jose Stealth, the 5'10", 210 lb. Booth was 191-393 taking face-offs in 2008. He also had 42 loose balls to go with a pair of assists in 16 games played for the Stealth. The Hobert College product will join the Mammoth for their game this Saturday in San Jose. "While replacing Gajic is nearly impossible, we are very fortunate to be acquiring a player of Booth's skills and athleticism." Govett continued "Tim brings many of the same skills that Gajic brings to the table, along with some outstanding faceoff skills."
Following the Saturday night contest in San Jose, the Mammoth will travel to Edmonton for a Sunday night game before returning to host the league's All-Star Weekend on March 6th and 7th at Pepsi Center.
