Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks will host the New York Titans on Saturday, February 21st at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The night will be filled with prizes and promotions. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. Fans can watch the game live online via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.

The biggest promotion of the evening will allow one randomly selected fan the chance to shoot for a house. The fan will have to sink three of four shots, on the fly, from the far end of the field (some restrictions apply). Other promotions include the first 5,000 fans will receive light up thundersticks, courtesy of Time Warner Cable and one lucky fan will also win a Kodak digital camera. Further, fans 21 and older can purchase a $4.00 Labatt blue or blue light in a commemorative Knighthawks cup. The second of the six cup series features Shawn Evans. The Knighthawks will also hold an official postgame party at Legend's, located in the Clarion Riverside Hotel on East Main Street.

Saturday is also Star Wars Night as Star Wars characters from The 501st Legion's Garrison Excelsior and The Rebel Legion's Echo Base will be appearing at the Knighthawks game. Characters like Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers and Boba Fett will be posing for pictures as soon as the gates open and throughout the game in order to help the Knighthawks raise money for CURE Childhood Cancer Association (www.curekidscancer.org). Garrison Excelsior will also be running a promotions table where you can learn more about the costuming groups and purchase fun Star Wars goodies to benefit CURE. The characters will also participate in the Knighthawks postgame autograph session on the field.

The game is the third and final meeting between the two teams. In the last meeting, the Titans used six power-play goals and a seven-goal third quarter to shake the pesky Knighthawks on February 15th. New York improved to 2-0 against Rochester this season with the win at Madison Square Garden.

Pat Maddalena led the way with eight points (5+3), while Brendan Mundorf (1+6) and Ryan Boyle (1+6) each had seven points. Matt Vinc stopped 38 shots to earn the victory. Gary Gait (3+2), Shawn Williams (1+3) and Aaron Wilson (3+2) led the way for the Knighthawks. Pat O'Toole made 30 saves in the loss.

Knighthawks Notes: The Rochester Knighthawks enter the game in sixth place in the East Division (1-5). Last game, despite the loss, two Knighthawks reached personal milestones. O'Toole hit the 5,000 save mark as a Knighthawk and Gait became only the fourth player in league history to reach the 500 assist mark. With his three-goal effort, Wilson also moved one goal away from 200 in his pro career. Williams also moved just six points away from 600 in a Rochester uniform. Williams, who leads Rochester in points, is 11th in the league with 32 points (8+24). Steve Toll is fourth in the NLL with 75 loose balls.

Franchise to hit milestones: The Knighthawks will reach two milestones this season, as the team will play its 100th home game and 200th game. Rochester will host the Toronto Rock on Saturday, February 28th in the 100th regular season home game in franchise history. The 200th all-time game will be played at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday, March 21st.

Toll already the Iron Man: After extensive research it was discovered that Knighthawk Steve Toll was already the holder of the NLL regular season and overall consecutive games played records. Kevin Finneran was the previous record holder for consecutive games played. His regular-season record was 138 consecutive games, while his regular season and playoffs combined record was 158 consecutive games. Toll broke Finneran's regular-season record by playing his 139th consecutive regular season game on April 19, 2008, when the Knighthawks beat the Minnesota Swarm, 11-8, at Xcel Energy Center. Toll then broke Finneran's regular season and playoffs combined record by playing his 159th consecutive game on January 10, 2009, when the Knighthawks fell to the Philadelphia Wings, 16-13, at The Blue Cross Arena. Toll began his streak when he played in the final regular season game of the Toronto Rock's 1999 regular season. Kevin Finneran's streak began halfway through his rookie season when he was a member of the New England Blazers in 1991.

New York Notes: The Titans (5-3) enter the game in second place in the East Division after winning their last two games. Casey Powell leads the league with 26 goals and 52 points in seven games. He was named the league's Player of the Month for January after recording 19 goals and 19 assists in five games. New York, which has the highest scoring offense with 100 goals, also has Jordan Hall (41 points) and Pat Maddelena (41 points) among the Top 10 point getters in the NLL. Both players are tied for third in the league in points. Stephen Peyser leads the NLL in faceoff wins this season with 135. New York is coached by former Knighthawks Head Coach Ed Comeau. Comeau guided Rochester to the 2007 Champion's Cup.

Next Game: The Knighthawks will host the Toronto Rock on Saturday, February 28th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. Fans can watch the game live online via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.

The festivities include a raffle featuring donations from local businesses and jerseys from the Amerks, Knighthawks, Toronto Rock, Syracuse Crunch and other teams in the National Lacrosse League and American Hockey League. This year there will be a silent auction to raffle off a Knighthawks game-worn jersey signed by all the members of Rascal Flatts and a signed NLL East Division All-Star jersey.
