
Gailen Has Contract Sold to Angels

DURHAM, NC - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced today that the contract of Lincoln Saltdogs OF Blake Gailen was sold to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Gailen will be sent to Double A Arkansas in the Texas League.
Gailen was batting .406 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs in 69 games for the Saltdogs. The 26-year-old collected 113 hits, including 24 doubles and six triples, scored 54 runs and walked 40 times. Gailen led the American Association in batting average and hits and was in the top 10 in doubles and triples. He was a Player of the Week recipient for the week ending June 5.
The Las Vegas resident played collegiately at UNLV and has spent his entire professional career in the independent leagues (Anderson, Wichita, Chico, Lincoln).
Gailen becomes the fifth player sold to a major league organization during the 2011 season.
