 Stockton Kings

Gabriel, Williams Making Most of Opportunities

November 29, 2018 - NBA G League (G League)
Stockton Kings News Release

With both Sactown and Stockton seasons in full swing, we check in on both two-way players.

Whether it's the 916 or 209, Troy Williams and Wenyen Gabriel have proven to become steady forces in their respective roles.

Gabriel, the undrafted rookie from the University of Kentucky has enjoyed success with both Sacramento and the Stockton Kings.

After earning preseason playing time at Golden 1 Center, Wenyen has spent the regular season in Stockton, where he has been achieving career milestones.

This season, he's averaged 12.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. It was his most recent game that garnered everyone's attention.

Against the Texas Legends, Gabriel was on another level. He posted a career-high 28 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks in the contest in a win for the 209.

It doesn't stop with Wenyen. Troy Williams has also been contributing.

While Williams hasn't thrown on the Stockton threads yet, he's still been making waves in Sacramento.

"I think he comes in and he gives us a pop,"says Sactown head coach Dave Joerger. "I like that, both defensively and offensively. He gets a couple dunks, he makes a couple cuts. You notice him and he makes an impact."

This is nothing new to Troy, though.

"It's been like that forever," said the former Hoosier. "Being energetic is just second nature to me. I've been energetic my whole life, so it just happens."

We are excited to see both of these young talents develop in both area codes as their seasons move forward.
