
Gabby Carle Called up to Canada Women's National Team for 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup

Washington, D.C. - Washington Spirit defender Gabby Carle has been called up to represent Canada at the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup, Canada Soccer announced today. The tournament will be played in Houston, San Diego and the greater Los Angeles area. As part of Group C, Canada will face Costa Rica, Paraguay and the winner of Saturday, February 17's preliminary match between El Salvador and Guatemala, with all three contests taking place at Houston's Shell Energy Stadium.
Carle, who started all 22 regular season matches for the Spirit in 2023, has appeared for Canada in 38 international matches (15 starts), scoring one goal and adding two assists. Last summer, Carle earned a call-up to Canada's final roster for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. It was her second career FIFA Women's World Cup call-up after representing Canada in 2019 as well. Carle was also an alternate for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 and made her debut in the Canadian national youth program in 2013 at 14 years old. She hails from Lévis, Quebec.
Canada's 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup Group Stage Schedule:
- vs TBD, Thursday, February 22 at 9 p.m. EST
- vs Paraguay, Sunday, February 25 at 5 p.m. EST
- vs Costa Rica, Wednesday, February 28 at 6 p.m. EST
Carle played the second-most regular season minutes (1,899) for the Spirit in 2023 and provided the game-winning assist on forward Trinity Rodman's stoppage time score during the Spirit's September 30 match against Kansas City.
