Mississippi Braves News Release

GREENVILLE, SC -- Greenville Braves starter Daniel Curtis (2-1) went six innings without allowing an earned run as the G-Braves defeated the Jacksonville Suns 4-2 Tuesday night at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Curtis scattered seven hits and had five strikeouts while issuing only one walk to pick up the win.

The G-Braves jumped on top with a run on two pitches in the third inning off of Jacksonville starter Will McCrotty (1-2). Bryce Terveen stroked a first pitch double down the right field line. Pitcher Daniel Curtis took the next pitch and ripped a long single off the left field signage for his second RBI of the season.

Orlando took the lead with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth frame. Derek Michaelis picked up the only hit of the inning, a lead off double to deep center, and scored on a Mike Collins single.

Greenville snatched the lead back for good in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of Michaelis' second error of the game at first base that allowed two runs to cross home. Ryan Langerhans got things going with a single, and Richard Lewis lofted a one-out double that right fielder Reggie Abercrombie made a diving try at but could not hold on to. Terveen came up next and sent a hot shot to Michaelis that he booted to let both runners score.

The G-Braves made it 4-2 in the seventh as Pete Orr bounced into a bases loaded, no out double play that brought Lewis in from third.

Billy Sylvester pitched the ninth to earn his tenth save of the season.
