February 28, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Ontario Fury News Release
Ontario, Calif. - Ontario Fury standout Victor Quiroz was named to the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Team of the Week for week 13 of the 2018-19 campaign. It's the second straight such honor for the veteran defender, who continued to rack up points in his side's games on Sunday and Monday. While Ontario suffered a pair of away defeats to title contenders RGV Barracudas FC and Monterrey Flash, Quiroz fought back vigorously with a goal and two assists against the former as well as a pair of assists against the latter.
The Mexico native, who represented El Tri in the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, is joined on the Team of the Week by goalkeeper William Vanzela (Baltimore), fellow defender John Sosa (Kansas City), midfielder-forward Ricardo Carvalho (Harrisburg), and forwards Franck Tayou (Monterrey) and Bo Jelovac (Utica). Tayou was unstoppable in the Flash's win over the Fury, bagging three tallies and adding one assist on the night.
Having been asked to play with an attacking mindset since joining Ontario in mid-January, Quiroz has more than delivered, as he ranks tied for ninth league-wide with an impressive 2.3 points-per-game average from his first seven appearances with the Southern Californians. The 42-year-old currently has 6 goals and 10 assists to his name.
Victor Quiroz will lead his new club against his former club, the Fury's mighty Pacific Division rivals San Diego Sockers, in a highly anticipated away match on Sunday, March 10. After the final part of their four-game road swing, a March 15 meeting with the Tacoma Stars, Head Coach Jimmy Nordberg's men return home for a Sunday, March 24, clash with the El Paso Patriots that could prove crucial to Ontario's chances of landing a postseason berth. Tickets to all games at Citizens Business Bank Arena may be purchased visiting www.ontariofury.com or by calling 909-457-0252.
