
Fundraiser for hurricane victims

Wednesday, August 31st KGET-TV Channel 17 and the Kern Chapter of the American Red Cross are teaming up for fundraiser this Wednesday. The event will run from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina, which slammed into the Gulf Coast over the weekend and continues to cause damage. Mikie Hayhurst, Director of Community Relations, along with Angelese Reed, Public Relations Assistant, and Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will be at KGET-TV studios from 3-5 p.m. to help collect funds. Friday, September 2nd Colonel Claw'd will take to the ice during a public skate session at Bakersfield Ice Sports Center. The Condors feathered mascot will be skating from 8 - 8:45 p.m. at 1325 Q Street. The public skate session runs from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. and cost for admission is $7 for adults, $6.50 for kids 12 and under. Skates are available to rent for an additional $3 For more information, contact The Ice Center at 852-7400.
