Full Schedule Released by USHL

Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Thunder and the United States Hockey League are pleased to release the full 2015-16 season schedule. The announcement came Thursday morning and adds to the Thunder's already released home opener date of Sept. 25. The full Bloomington schedule can be viewed here. Individual tickets may be purchased at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office or on ticketmaster.com at a later date.

30 games will be played at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum and another 30 will be played on the road this season. Once again, the Thunder will compete from the final week in September through April, seeking a berth in the Clark Cup Playoffs.

Highlighting the schedule will be eight games against the reigning Anderson Cup champion Youngstown Phantoms, the most head to head games of the season for Bloomington. Adding to the Eastern Conference competition, the Thunder will also face off with Chicago, Green Bay, Muskegon, and Team USA for six games each.

26 of the Thunder's 30 home games will be played on Fridays and Saturdays. Two games will be played on Sundays throughout the season. The remaining two will be played during the week including a Martin Luther King Day game and a Presidents Day game.

In the Thunder's inaugural season, the team earned a 29-14-7 record, narrowly missing the postseason. Bloomington grabbed 16 of their wins on home ice during the year, posting up just the second winning season in Bloomington hockey history since 2006.

The Thunder will also be taking to the road prior to the 2015-16 season and make stops in Green Bay and Madison for their preseason match ups.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Green Bay Gamblers, Madison Capitols, and both of the United States National Team Development Program teams (U17 & U18) will join Bloomington from Friday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 13. Then the Thunder will be joined again the following weekend on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 19 & 20 by the Gamblers and Capitols. Also appearing that weekend will be the Chicago Steel in their first preseason action.

The Thunder's 2015 preseason schedule will be released throughout the off-season.

Five venues will be hosting preseason games leading up to the USHL's opening weekend. The Green Bay Gamblers, Lincoln Stars, Madison Capitols, and Waterloo Black Hawks will host games and an extra venue in Pittsburgh, PA will house another group of Eastern Conference teams.

Record NHL Draft: A record 37 USHL players were selected in the 2015 NHL draft. 29 of those selected played against Bloomington at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in 2014-15 over 25 of the Thunder's 30 games at home. Ten others drafted were USHL alumni. Of the 32 first-round picks, the USHL saw four selected in the top ten and eight overall.
