Fukufuji Returns to Reading

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have reassigned goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji to the ECHL's Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Fukufuji, 23, has played in two games with the Monarchs since being recalled from the Royals on November 14. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound native of Tokyo, Japan, has a record of 1-1-0, a goals-against-average of 3.00 and a save-percentage of .923 with the Monarchs. Fukufuji has appeared in four games with the Royals this season, collecting a record of 2-1-1, a goals-against-average of 3.20 and a save-percentage of .907.
Selected in the eighth-round (238th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Fukufuji spent the 2004-05 season with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors, registering a record of 27-9-5, a goals-against-average of 2.48 and a save-percentage of .919 in 44 games. Fukufuji was also voted Rookie of the Year by the Bakersfield coaching staff last season.
The Monarchs face-off with the Atlantic Division leading Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday, December 28.
