SEASON SERIES: The Brahmas were one of just three teams this season to win their season series from Memphis. Ft. Worth was 3-1-2 this year in six games played against the RiverKings (2-1 at home, 1-0-2 on the road)...Ft. Worth has also won their last two games against the RiverKings, including a 3-2 win in their last meeting on Tuesday, March 12th in Ft. Worth...The RiverKings did hand the Brahmas a 10-1 loss back on Saturday, December 22nd, in Ft. Worth.
FORT WORTH NOTES: The Brahmas received a major assist yesterday from their NHL affiliate, the Dallas Stars. Dallas assigned center Brett Draney to Ft. Worth for the duration of the Brahmas playoff run. Draney, a sixth round pick of the Stars in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, just finished his last year of major junior hockey with Medicine Hat of the WHL...Thursday night's game will be the first playoff game for the Brahmas since April 21, 1999...The Brahmas ended the regular season on a bit of a slide, losing their last three games in a row...Center Joe Van Volsen, the Brahmas leading scorer this season, finished thirteenth overall in the CHL points race.
MEMPHIS NOTES: The RiverKings won their second consecutive division crown this year and finished with the second best record in the CHL at 46-14-4...Memphis was nearly unbeatable on home ice this year with a league best 27-2-3 record at home...RiverKings winger Don Parsons, the CHL goal scoring leader with 54, was named as the CHL regular season MVP on Monday...Forwards Jay Neal and Kahlil Thomas returned to RiverKings active roster from the IR earlier this week...Defenseman Luch Nasato (12G/28A/158PIM/+23) anchors the Memphis blueline.
NEXT UP FOR THE BRAHMAS: Game two if of the Brahmas first round playoff series against the RiverKings will be tomorrow night, Friday, March 22nd from the DeSoto Civic Center in Memphis. The game will be broadcast live on KTFW 92.1 FM beginning at 7:05 PM. The series will shift to Ft. Worth for Game Three on Saturday night, March 23rd, with a 7:05 PM faceoff from the Ft. Worth Convention Center.
