Frustrating Night as Fronts Fall to Sting

Life without Jason Robertson and Jacob Paquette began on Thursday night in Peterborough for Kingston. It was a rough night as the Petes defeated the Frontenacs 8-2. One night later, Kingston was looking to bounce back at home against the Sarnia Sting. It was the first meeting of the season between the two teams. It was also teddy bear toss night at Leon's Centre meaning after the first Kingston goal fans could throw teddy bears on the ice to be donated to the Salvation Army Toy Drive.

There were plenty of shots on goal in the first period. Sarnia led the shot barrage 17-10. Three of those shots found the back of the net between the two teams. Sarnia opened the scoring. Anthony Salinitri opened the scoring when he found a wide-open net on a rebound opportunity. Kelton Hatcher extended the lead to 2-0 when he converted on a cross crease pass from Adam Razicka. Ryan Cranford cut the lead in half just before the period ended scoring the goal that set the teddy bears free. With just 20.2 left on the clock, the teams headed to the room for intermission in a 2-1 game in favor of Sarnia.

The Sting continued to poor on the pressure in the middle period. Jacob Perreault scored his first of the game to extend the lead to 3-1. Theo Hill then chased Bonello from the net with the fourth Sarnia goal. Ryan Cranford answered back quickly with his second of the game, but that was the last bright spot for Kingston. Salinitri made it 5-2 late in the second before the buzzer sounded.

The game continued to belong to Sarnia in the third. Leufvenius, Ruzicka and Perreault all scored goals before the ten-minute mark of the third period. Kingston was clearly frustrated with how the game was going and it led to Sarnia out playing them for most of the game. The final score was 8-2 for the Sting.

Kingston's next home game is next Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for the annual school day game. Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.ca.
