Frosty Friday and Janis Joplin's Famous Porsche Highlight Weekend Games

KALAMAZOO, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings host the Norfolk Admirals for two games this weekend at Wings Event Center, giving fans an opportunity to enjoy food and beverage specials, and a chance to take a time machine back to 1965 with a famous psychedelic cruiser.

Friday night is a Frosty Friday, in which fans in attendance can enjoy $2 beer/soda, and $2 hot dogs from 6-8 p.m. Saturday night is Rock and Roll night, and the greatest artists of the 60's, 70's, and 80's will be honored through their music during the game.

Featured on Saturday will be Janis Joplin's famous 1965 Porsche 356C. The psychedelic cruiser, often times referred to as the "History of the Universe" Porsche, will be located in the main ticket lobby before and during the game. The car is on loan from a private dealer, and will be headed to the Gilmore Car Museum after its stop at Wings Event Center. Two fans in attendance at Saturday's game will be selected to win passes to the Gilmore Car Museum.

Team notes- Kalamazoo have skated in two games against the Norfolk Admirals this season, while posting a 2-0-0 record. The Wings earned victories at the Norfolk Scope Arena during the opening weekend of the season on October 14 and 15. The Wings have won two straight games and three of their last four. Kalamazoo are coming off a 3-2 victory against the Florida Everblades last night at Wings Event Center.

Kalamazoo have a chance to punch their ticket to the Kelly Cup Playoffs by earning at least a point on Friday. A win or an overtime/shootout loss will get the Wings into the postseason for the fourth straight year and for the eighth time under the direction of ninth-year head coach Nick Bootland.

Individual notes- Kalamazoo forward Peter Schneider is riding a seven-game point streak entering this weekend's games. Schneider has points in eleven of his last twelve games and has 18 total points during that span.

Goalie Joel Martin has won two straight starts and has made 62 of 65 possible saves during that span. In the eight games prior to his two-game winning streak, Martin posted a record of 1-7-0.

Forward Cam Darcy has tallied 17 points in 13 games with Kalamazoo this season since being re-assigned by the Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL) from the Syracuse Crunch (AHL). Darcy's 1.31 points per game lead all Kalamazoo Wings skaters.
